What photograph screening provides
The posture tool examines surface alignment in a captured image. Landmarks, line angles and usable distances help you and a practitioner discuss that observation. Image quality and point review are part of the result; the report is not a diagnosis.
What examination adds
The relevant clinician, working within their scope, combines history, symptoms, function and examination findings. A standing photograph does not contain all of this information. The next step follows the clinical question, rather than a colour or score alone.
Why a photograph is not a Cobb measurement
Standard Cobb measurement uses vertebral reference lines on radiographs. Points on skin or clothing do not show the vertebrae, so a surface photograph curve must not be interpreted using diagnostic Cobb thresholds. Scoliosis Research Society explanation.
What to bring to an appointment
- The report with images and landmarks, not just its overall score.
- The capture date and setup, especially for repeat assessments.
- The question or concern that led you to seek assessment.
- Relevant records requested for your appointment.
